Tuesday Ten: On Fear and Peace

So the draft of this blog post has been sitting idle since the end of March. Life got a little crazy, but this post stuck in the back of my mind as one that begged to be written. The enemy has been quite active in my life as of late by sowing lots of lies. Dumb lies, but powerful nevertheless. Some days I can physically feel the battle between my  heart and mind as I beg the Lord to remind me of His truths in the midst of the battlefield. Here are some of my favorite verses that I am learning to claim that speak against fear and for peace.
  1. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. - John 10:10
  2. The Lord your God is with you, the mighty warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. - Zephaniah 3:17
  3. But now thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you. - Isaiah 43:1-3a, 4
  4. I have said these things to you, that you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. - John 16:33
  5. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." - Psalm 91:1-2
  6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:4-5
  7. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the One who died-more than that who was raised- who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:31-39
  8. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. - 1 John 4:18
  9. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in Him." - Lamentations 3:21-24
  10. You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because He trusts in You. - Isaiah 26:3
