season 2: a fruitful life//episode 1: understanding God's love: an interview with Dr. Jennie Armstrong

Hello friends, and welcome back to the Fullness of Joy podcast!

I am so excited to be with you all again after a little bit of a hiatus. I didn’t intend to take so much time off from the podcast, but life has been very full over the last few months. At the end of April, my family and I were able to travel to Orlando for a family reunion, which was so sweet and fun. Then the month of May hit, and along with it 4 out of the 5 of our immediate family’s birthdays. 3 of us were born in the first week of May, and my husband’s birthday is 2 weeks after mine. Then my dad’s birthday is at the end of May and my mom’s is in the first week of June. Needless to say, we were celebrating nearly every day it seemed. Not to mention the end of the school year, our oldest got her license, and I attended my first writer’s conference at the end of May. It has been a whirlwind, that is for sure.

But through the last several months, I have been thinking of this sweet little space and praying about what the Lord would have me share. Over the last several years, I have been captivated by learning about and getting to know the Holy Spirit on a deeper level. You see, it is very easy to be a Christian and look as though you’ve got it together but then not be living in a way that truly exalts Christ. That is when your life is devoid of the Spirit.

You may say, how do I know I have a life filled with the Spirit? Well, Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. So a person who is submitted and surrendered to the Spirit of God will exhibit these qualities more and more as they are being conformed to the likeness of Christ. This isn’t about trying harder and doing more, but rather walking with God in an intimate and intentional way.

I am so excited about this series. We will alternate between interviews and teaching episodes, and for the first fruit of the Spirit, you are in for a real treat. Today I get to welcome a long time friend of mine, Jennie Armstrong, to the podcast. I can’t wait for you to get to know her! Our conversation was so rich and full that I had to split it into two episodes. This week is part 1, and next week I will share with you part 2.
