Caution: You may be approaching survival mode!
There’s still time, but consider this a blinking yellow light. You’re making decisions that may lead to burnout. God has created you to thrive, not just survive. Sometimes life circumstances lead us to believe that we have to be all things to all people, but that it is simply not true. We are called to love others well and be obedient to Christ, but this does not mean that we have to completely lose ourselves in the process.
Beneath all of the fear, questioning, and longing lies a healthier you. Taking time to invest in yourself with some accountability along the way will only benefit you (and those you love) in the long run.
Here are some simple ways to incorporate more self-care into your routine to avoid living in overwhelm:
take a walk around the block to get some fresh air
call a friend on the phone
write a note to a friend
take a bath or a long shower with some essential oils
read for pleasure
play a board game with a friend or spouse
start a gratitude journal
make sure you’re spending time in the Word to encourage your heart
And if you’re already nearing survival mode, you may need the support of someone who is on the outside of your situation yet can speak into your life with candor and grace. If you need support that will give you the tools you need to climb out of the overwhelm, I would love to work with you as your coach.
